At its June meeting, the Bartlesville Board of Education will finalize designating Brent Massey as the Assistant Principal at Madison Middle School and Nate Casteel as an Assistant Principal at Bartlesville High School. Massey is filling the position that Cheron Southwick will vacate as she transitions to a counselor at Wayside Elementary School and Casteel is filling Damon Herald’s role.
Massey, a teacher at Madison Middle School, has previously been the Principal at Dewey Middle School. He previously taught social studies at Bartlesville’s Central Middle School in 2009-2010 and at Madison Middle School from 2010-2015. He was the social studies building coordinator at Madison from 2012 to 2015 and was Madison’s Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015. He had previously taught social studies in Muskogee from 2007 to 2009. His wife, Tara, is a speech pathologist at Richard Kane Elementary School and their three children attend Bartlesville Public Schools.
Casteel is currently an Assistant Principal for Roosevelt Middle School and Capitol Hill High School at Oklahoma City Public Schools and was previously the Dean of Students and Athletic Director for East Central Junior High and Peary Elementary at Tulsa Public Schools from 2015-2020. Prior to moving into administration he taught middle school social studies for nine years in Texas and Oklahoma. Casteel has coaching experience in middle school football, wrestling, tennis, and basketball.
